Hallmarking

CarbonDrops complies to BIS hallmarking system for gold jewellery. It ensures that every piece of jewellery conforms to a set of standards laid by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the national standards organization of India.

BIS hallmark for gold jewellery consists of several components:

  • The BIS logo
  • A three digit number indicating the purity of gold in part per thousand format viz: 958, 916, 875, 833, 792, 750, 708, 667, 585, 375. Thus a BIS 916 hallmark would certify to a purity of 916 per 1000, that is 91.6%, translating to a 22 carat purity of gold
  • Logo of the assaying centre
  • A code denoting the year of hallmarking
  • Logo/code of the jewellery (optional)

Certification

The value of a precious stone is determined by its gemological makeup, natural rarity and finished quality. Diamonds and gemstones of similar appearance can have important differences in value. Few independent laboratories like Gemological Institute of India (GII) offering certification have techniques to provide expert and impartial analysis of a jewellery’s precious stones, specifying carat weight, colour, clarity, natural origin etc. without disassembling the jewellery piece. At CarbonDrops we ensure every piece of jewellery is certified by GII or any other equivalent Labs.
